  2. The salary is subject to change of annual adjustment, announced by Directorate General of Personnel Administration, Executive Yuan, for the salary of soldiers, teachers and public servants.
  3. After assuming offices, officers/NCOs will be promoted or sent to further education according to their performance and related regulations.

  8. 6-month training for civil jobs before the discharge if one serves for at least 10 years, or one serves at least two more years after fulfilling statutory service period.
  9. Veteran-to-be after the discharge from at least 10-year service.

Welfare During Military Life

Subsidies and Welfare for Dependents

Military service members are free to seek medical care from military hospitals, or they can apply for medical subsidies for civil hospitals treatments for emergent illnesses. Dependents will join National Health Insurance, for whose fee is subsidized 60% by the Ministry of National Defense. Dependents are subsidized partially if they seek medical care from military hospitals.

Military service members and their dependents can purchase in 40 Military-Welfare-Product stations nationwide.

To apply for the subsidy, please contact the organization in which you serve.

  1. Attachments:
    1. Marriage certificate.
    2. Certificate from Household Registration Offices.
    3. Applicants seal.
    1. Instructions:
      1. Within three months from the date of wedding, the service organizations of the applicants should contact financial branches for the applications. The subsidy is for volunteer active soldiers only.
      2. The subsidies are given as the double of applicants salary in the month of wedding.
      3. The applicants spouse can apply for the subsidy if he or she also serves in public section.
      4. One can not apply for this subsidy if he or she divorces and then gets married with the original spouse.

To apply for the allowance, please contact the organization in which you serve.

    1. Birth Certificate.
    2. Certificate from Household Registration Offices.
    3. Applicant's seal.
    1. Instructions:
      1. Within three months from the date of birth, the service organizations of the applicants should contact financial branches for the applications.
      2. The allowances are given as the double of applicants salary in the month of birth of their children.
      3. The allowance is given only once if both sides of the couple serve in public sections.
      4. The allowance can be applied if one is in at least 5 months pregnancy which results in stillbirth, miscarriage or fetus dead right after birth. This allowance is not applicable for those in pregnancy no longer than 5 months.

To apply for the subsidy, please contact the organization in which the dead serves.

    1. Death certificate and the Announcement Order.
    2. Dependents seal and ID card.
    3. Certificate from Household Registration Offices..
    4. Cremation certificate for those cremate the dead.
    1. Instructions:
      1. The organizations in which the dead served should contact financial branches for the applications.
      2. The subsidies are given according to the dead service members salary:
        1. Interment: 5 times of the salary.
        2. Cremation: 7 times of the salary.

To apply for the subsidy, please contact your service organization if you are an active service member, or contact service organization for dependents if you are a dependent of a dead service member, or contact the Reserve Command to which you belong if you are discharged.

      1. Within 3 months from the registration date, the service organizations of the applicants should contact financial branches for the applications.
